Can You Swim 27.5 kilometres in the Open Sea?

The first Edition of the eDreams Marnaton Cup 2012 is about to start.
Barcelona, June 13th, 2012.- Swimming enthusiasts are in luck, because they face a new challenge that combines sport and nature in a long distance journey in open sea: the 1st eDreams Marnaton cup 2012. This Swimming circuit marathon, launched after the success achieved in the different Marnaton challenges in the last five years, consist of three tests that cover a total of 27.5 km of the Catalan coast km.
The competition, sponsored by one of the largest travel agencies in Europe, eDreams (www.edreams.com/), merges the concepts of sea, swimming and marathon creating a professional championship at sea similar to the athletic ground mode. Its objectives include promoting outdoor sports, healthy living, respect for the environment and personal growth.
To participate in the eDreams MARNATON cup 2012, one must join at least two of the three tests that form the competition: Sant Feliu de Guixols, CadaquĂ©s and Sitges. The first crossing, which will be held on June 30th, is a new route incorporated this year to the Marnaton circuit that runs along 11 km from Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu de Guixols. The second competition, which was included in the V eDreams Marnaton cup: Cap de Creus – CadaquĂ©s, 6.5 km long, is to be held on September 15th. The Third Marnaton eDreams Garraf – Sitges is the third test circuit included in the open water marathon. This marnaton, to be held on October 6th, includes a reverse paddle surfing, a new form of surfing which uses a paddle to move through the water while standing on a table.
