In January, low cost airline easyJet announced that it has one of the best musician friendly hand baggage policies in the airline industry.
Over the past couple of months, easyJet and the Incorporated Society of Musicians have been negotiating about how the airline can best accommodate passengers travelling with instruments.
easyJet has agreed that musicians travelling with instruments measuring up to 30 x 117 x 38cm in size can carry them onboard as hand baggage and place them in the overhead lockers. The following instruments are included in this category: guitar, violin, viola, piccolo, flute, clarinet, bugle and trumpet. However, special arrangements must be made for larger instruments, for example, cellos.
