Would you like to go somewhere different this summer? Have you ever considered going to The Netherlands?

Perhaps it isn’t the most glamorous destination in the world and it certainly isn’t loved for its weather. But what The Netherlands does have is its famous capital city, Amsterdam, which is home to Anne Frank’s hideaway, as well as other famous attractions, art galleries, windmills, clogs and canals. However, perhaps you didn’t know that The Netherlands also has a number of unusual hotels.

Vliegtuigsuite
Teuge Airport
The Netherlands

Why don’t you spend a night on Vliegtuigsuite, also known as the Airplane Hotel, which is located at Teuge Airport east of Amsterdam. This former East German government flyer once landed in China, Cuba and Russia before it was converted into a luxury hotel suite with all the amenities you would expect of a 5-star hotel….including a sauna, Jacuzzi, Internet, flat screen TV and room service. You can even visit the cockpit to see what it looks like.

Harlingen Lighthouse Hotel
Harlingen Harbour
The Netherlands

This hotel can accommodate only two guests per night so you usually have to book well in advance. It is worth it. There are three levels to this former lighthouse, all for you, and it is the perfect location for a romantic break for two with sea views, mod cons and a luxury room.

Harlingen Harbour Crane
Harlingen
The Netherlands

Have you ever imagined staying in a Harbour Crane for the night? You can in Harlingen, a city in the north of The Netherlands.

Cruise Hotel
3e Katendrechtse Hoofd 25
Rotterdam
The Netherlands

This former ship was converted into a hotel with 254 50s style hotel rooms—they were renovated to look like rooms from this era. Apart from the nice accommodation you can go to the restaurant for something to eat, have a drink at the hotel bar or head out and discover the city because this ship isn’t going anywhere. It is parked at Rotterdam harbour.
