The Summer Olympics have finally come to an end, going out with a bang with a spectacular closing ceremony. (If you missed it we highly recommend you go check it out on the London 2012 official youtube page).
In the end the US took home the “gold” for the most medals in London 2012 with a total of 104, 46 of them being gold, 29 silver, and 29 bronze. China came in second with a total of 87 medals. And Great Britain took third with 65 total medals.

With a total of 10,500 athletes in this year’s Olympics, the fight to reach the podium’s three steps was intense, but there are a few Olympians that really stood out and took home their fair share of medals. Let’s take a look at these medal-hogs (kidding of course) a little more in-depth, who knows, maybe it’s just something in the water in their hometowns!
