The United States, the most popular holiday destination for the British

The most popular country for UK summer holidays 2013 breaks the mold of only EU destinations and is a long-haul destination this year, the United States. Coming in second is Spain, which was the most popular destination for Brits the previous two years (2011, 2012). The third most popular country is Spain’s border mate, Portugal. In comparison, last year’s 2nd and 3rd most popular destinations were Italy and France.

Keeping in line with the most popular country for summer holidays is the top city, Orlando in the United States’ “Sunshine State”, Florida. A city known for both its proximity to beaches and Walt Disney World Resort. The runners-up are two Portuguese cities, Lisbon and Faro.

The UK is most visited by Germans

As for who is coming to Great Britain during this year’s summer holidays, the Germans are first on the list of tourists, followed by the French, and Italians.

Lufthansa is the most popular airline for summer holidays 2013

Out of all the airlines booked for this year’s summer travels Germany’s two largest airlines take 1st and 2nd place. The favorite choice is the country’s flag carrier, Lufthansa, followed by the second largest airline in Germany, air berlin. Air France comes in as the 3rd favorite for travelers catching summer flights.
